Chapter XVIII Radical Self-Responsibility

Might of the Thoughts Study Guide

Chapter XVIII

Radical Self-Responsibility
Chapter XVIII seems to be an overview of all we’ve done in Might of the Thoughts thus far.  I found this chapter easier to read.  Either I’ve gotten attuned to Classic British English or Billy’s writing has gotten easier.  It could also be that since this part of the book is a review, it may be that I’ve read these concepts before and it’s easier to comprehend.

One of the most important lessons during a lifetime is to learn to take responsibility for oneself. It’s important to learn since everything in your life hinges on self-responsibility.  So far, we’ve reviewed 2 chapters that discuss the importance of self-responsibility. This topic is again reinforced in Chapter XVIII and I’m only halfway into the chapter.  Even though self-healing the psyche may seem arduous and difficult, it’s what one has to ultimately do.  You need to make the commitment and just do it.

Remember the “push-back” of negativity some of us discovered very early on when we first began doing the 5 affirmations in mid-January?  Speaking for myself, I remember doing the 5 affirmations and then one day, I became intensely angry for absolutely no reason at all. I was dumbfounded watching myself, for I couldn’t figure out what was wrong with me. I then realized what was happening because one of you had described this in your own experience. Billy addresses what we called the “push-back” in the following quote:

Thereby, it must simply be seen that human habits, such as the maintenance of wrong thoughts and views, and so forth, leave behind deep grooves in the consciousness which must be slowly repaired again and be made to disappear.  Negative, bad, unhealthy and wrong tendencies thereby naturally protest wildly; consequently, a reorientation is therefore not only connected with many efforts, rather also with many errors, disagreeable circumstances and defeats, and so forth.

Excerpt from Might of the Thoughts -Chapter XVIII
...Now that perhaps appears worse than it really is, but be corrected, which happens by means of the power of the consciousness which creates the will to correct the thoughts.  That can be somewhat hard in the beginning and demand quite some effort, but it is not impossible. Normally, in such situations, the human being allows himself/herself to be easily defeated by all the negative influences, but that only happens because he/she has lied to himself/herself for a long time as far as his/her consciousness is concerned, often for years or decades, and has caused himself/herself to fail.  Therefore, in such a situation, the human being must first confront himself/herself—namely his/her personality and consciousness—which must be told that, from now on, new, healthy, positive and progressive thoughts shall and will take possession of him/her and create their might.  But along with that also belongs the vital knowledge that success is actually achievable and is also reached.  The old, unhealthy and negative thought patterns are only thereby able to dissolve, in order to then ultimately disappear and lose their control.  No patterns of thoughts and no ideas are allowed to control the intelligence, rather the human being must hold his/her thoughts and intelligence under control with his/her consciousness, because rational ideas and setting of Ziele, and so forth can only be created and realized in that way, and indeed by means of the might of the thoughts which is steered by the consciousness.

To help you with review of the lessons you’ve learned, I’ve compiled an example of a list of reminders to do daily to maintain a Healthy Psyche. You can use the list I’ve generated or create one of your own—change the times, change the wording, etc. Hopefully this will give you some ideas. (Printable copy available in Study Guide Resources.)

  • I am the master of my own thoughts.
  • I am the master of my own destiny.
  • I create my own good luck.
  • I am sovereign, beautiful, powerful, protected, happy, joy, free, success
  • I am the creator of my own psyche.
  • I am the smith of my entire life circumstances, environment and entire destiny.I am the forger of my own good fortune.
  • I am the captain of my own ship.
  • I am successful.
  • I strengthen my thoughts.
  • I nurture my thoughts.
  • I clarify my thoughts.
  • I organize my thoughts.
It is the nature of the thoughts that by the might alone, any conceivable thing can be brought to fruition. Every thought that is enlivened by might and power must also bring a quite certain effect and the effect of the thought is directly proportional to its might and power. My consciousness is like a garden with flourishing plants. The negative and the positive are two forces which belong together because they depend on one another and should never be separated. As a rule, suffering is an effect of some form of wrong thinking. Incidence of suffering is an indicator that the law of harmony has been disregarded and broken.

I live in love, I live in peace, I live in freedom, I live in harmony, I live Blithefully, I live in health, I love in Joy.
